Poynton Heritage Garden

The garden situated between the Civic Hall, Library and Priorslegh Medical Centre was the successful transformation of what was a little used public area into a colourful and tranquil space.

Poynton Council Community Support Team

CCST Update

Recently the Council Community Support Team have assisted many residents via their surgeries, given safety talks to school children and dealt with various complaints. More details below.

New AEDs

Two new 24hr access defibrillators have recently been installed on Coppice Road & Anson Road. Download updated location list as PDF here. Community Training also available - details here.

Poynton Easy Access Scheme

We have mobility scooters & wheelchairs hirable at a small charge. Contact the Civic Hall on 01625 872238 for a free lesson and a 'test drive'. More details.

The Town Council congratulates the recipients of the 2019 Certificates of Civic Service and the Certificates of Youth Civic Service, which were presented by the Town Mayor, Cllr Mrs Sarah-Jane Gilmore, at the Civic Reception on Sunday 21st July 2019.

The Civic Service Awards were presented in recognition of a sustained and significant contribution to the community to:

Elaine Bailey, for her tireless support of our veterans, her work with the Poppy Appeal and fundraising at the Royal British Legion.

Andrew Barnes, for his volunteer work as an Enhanced Community First Aid Responder, as a governor to Lostock Hall School, fundraising and organising the annual Beer Festival and helping Santa and the Round Table at Christmas.

Poynton Golden Memories, Edith Clarke, Judy Hatton & Gerald Scriven, for their fantastic work spearheading the group and their contribution to Poynton’s status as a Dementia Friendly Community.

Di Penny, for her hard work fundraising and leading a team to transform the Heritage Garden.

Robert Sabin, for his hard work and being an integral part of the team who helped shape the Poynton Neighbourhood Plan.

Elizabeth Wade, for her volunteer work for the Poynton Christmas fest, the Poynton show and Just Drop In.

Marjorie Wadsworth, for her work and dedication over the past 50 years with Poynton Players


The Youth Civic Awards were given in recognition of having shown leadership, initiative, enthusiasm and commitment to a worthwhile cause, of benefit to their peer group and/or the wider community to:

Emilia Bell, Myer Holt, Amy Jervis and Peri Baytan for their volunteer work helping at 1st Poynton Rainbows over the past 2 years.

Reece Nolan and Alex Archer, for their volunteer coaching of young swimmers at Poynton Dippers over the past 4 years.

Rebecca Taylor, Lauren Kerins, Phoebe Kelly Cooper, Emily Wolffsohn, for their volunteer work helping at 11th Poynton Brownies over the past 2 years.

Two people will be presented with their award on a future occasion.
