Poynton Neighbourhood Plan

Come along to an open morning/launch of the Poynton Neighbourhood Plan at the Civic Hall on Saturday 17th January 2015, from 10am to noon – all are welcome.

Preparations have been underway for some months to produce this Plan, involving the Town Council and a considerable number of community volunteers. This represents a genuine opportunity for Poynton’s residents to help shape and influence the scale and nature of development in Poynton for the next 20 years or so. If the eventual Plan receives support from 50% or more of those residents who respond to a referendum, then the Plan carries statutory weight, and must be taken into account by planning officers, developers and others. In effect it would become the third tier of planning guidance, sitting below the Cheshire East Local Plan, when approved, and the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) respectively.

To help inform and shape Poynton’s Neighbourhood Plan, a comprehensive survey will be distributed to Poynton’s residents with February’s Poynton Post - it can also be completed online. We would urge all our residents to take the time to complete and return it – it is important to Poynton’s future. For further information on the Plan please refer to the FAQs.

Attention All Carers

Carers in Cheshire East are invited to a series of events sponsored by Cheshire East Council, NHS Eastern Cheshire and NHS South Cheshire CCGs - those events closest to Poynton are shown below. They will provide carers with information about the services available to them and new provision that will need to be made by Cheshire East Council with the implementation of the Care Act from April 2015. The events will also highlight the work that has been undertaken in the last year and will enable carers to share their views on the joint carers’ strategy and implementation of the Care Act.. Each carer will be provided with a directory of available services too. The event will also provide an opportunity for carers to suggest ways they would like Cheshire East Council and the CCGs to engage with and work with them in the future.

Places are limited so please confirm your attendance and preferred venue and time ASAP by calling Jo Hughes on 01625 663350 or e-mailing jo.hughes3@nhs.net Macclesfield Town Hall, SK10 1EA on Thursday 22nd January, 6.30pm to 8.30pm, or Friday 23rd January, 1pm to 3pm.

Policing matters

Cheshire Constabulary does not produce a formal annual report, but has created a Review of the Year for 2014 The review focuses on the achievements of the police force and the changes that have been introduced in the past year. Highlights include a number of high profile operations to target crime, the formation of a new leadership team and the introduction of new and improved ways of working. The review can be accessed online at www.supportcheshirepolice.com/review.

The Police & Crime Commissioner for Cheshire published his latest blog just before Christmas, in which he talks about his highlights from the year and how he has been talking to and listening to the people of Cheshire. Click here to read the blog.
