Poynton In Business
This is the adopted name for the newly-formed Poynton business group. The next Business Breakfast has been arranged for Friday 11th October 2013 at 7.30 am at the Civic Hall. The meeting is open to all bona fide Poynton business owners and managers, and its core aims are to promote Poynton as a great place to do business, to encourage more ‘business to business’ contact, and to make it easier for business to operate. For more information, please phone Richard Holland on 01625 872238, e-mail him at email@example.com or go to the Business Page of the Council’s website. A new database has been launched for Poynton businesses, and ‘Poynton In Business’ had a stand at the recent Poynton Show, sponsored by the Town Council, which prompted considerable interest during the day.
If you have installed your own private CCTV at home, and are happy to provide details of this for a local police database, would you please forward your contact details to the Town Clerk – e-mail Liz.Osborn@poyntontowncouncil.gov.uk or phone T. 01625 872238.
'Welcome to Poynton’ Video
Launched last month on the Town Council website (www.poyntontowncouncil.gov.uk/video.htm) and on YouTube, this video has been very well received, although there were mixed views about the soundtrack, which have been noted! These are some of the unsolicited comments we have received at the Town Council via e-mail:
“Hello from Australia . Just wanted to let you know how much I have enjoyed the video about Poynton. I spent my childhood there from 1942 until 1962, and have returned many times to visit family still there. I shall watch the video many times to bring back so many happy memories of a lovely place”. “Just watched the Poynton Video and am e-mailing to say what a superb advert for the village it is. Well done to all involved”. “Thank you so much for sending the video to us, it is already on the way to our two sons, one in Brazil and the other in Australia . I am hoping it will encourage them to come back to live in Poynton! Well done, what a wonderful film”.
Do please watch the video if you have not already done so, and if you enjoy it please get your friends and family to watch it too.

Home Services Scheme
Due to the success of this Scheme, which offers a range of mainly fixed price home services provided by reliable local contractors, the Town Council is looking to increase its contractor database. We are particularly interested in hearing from reputable domestic cleaning contractors. Potential suppliers would be subject to a satisfactory DBS check, show evidence of Public Liability Insurance and sign a basic service level agreement. Time Out Café
There are many older members of our community who are isolated, spend days without seeing or speaking to anyone, and who are not confident to venture out alone.
Time out Café is a new Town Council initiative and is now open every Friday between 2pm and 4pm at Poynton Civic Hall. Do come along and join us, you will be guaranteed a warm and friendly welcome, refreshments and a chat. Meet up with friends, access information on local services, organisations and groups, and have your say on how this community facility could develop further, and what social or creative events we could host in the future.
